Johnny Cox, one of the best players in Kentucky
basketball history talks with Danny Hall on WSGS. Cox led
the Hazard Bulldogs to the State Championship in 1955 where they
beat Adair County. He played three years at UK beginning
in the 1956-57 season and was an instant hit amongst the
fans. Cox is one of only five players in Kentucky history
to make the First Team All-SEC three times in his playing
career, he is on the list with some of the all-time greats
including Dan Issel, Kenny Walker, Kevin Grevey & Kyle Macy.
Cox ranks in the top 20 in: career points, career rebounds,
career free throw attempts, career free throws made, career
field goals attempted & field goals made, he is one of only
about ten players to rank in the top 20 in all of those
categories. Click on the link below to listen to his
conversation with Danny Hall on WSGS.

Johnny
was the greatest basketball player ever to come from Eastern
Kentucky. I saw him play at Hazard High and was at the
final game of the 14th region. What a show Johnny put on
in the last minute of that game. He was great!!!!!!! Joe
