April 24, 1926 - Cawood Ledford, the radio voice of the
Kentucky Wildcats, was born.
April 24, 1928 - Perry County Attorney John E. Campbell narrowly escaped
serious injury or death when a horse he was riding reared up and fell
back on top of him. The accident happened on Troublesome where
Campbell
was attending to county road problems.
April 24, 1956 - Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp spoke at the
Hazard Booster's Club banquet.
April 24, 1959 – Kentucky Governor Happy Chandler sent 2000 National
guardsmen into eastern Kentucky to preserve order in a coal strike after
dynamite was set off at mines at Combs and Viper, KY.
April 24, 1984 - UK Football Coach Jerry Claiborne was the guest
speaker at the Hazard UK Alumni Club. The meeting was held at
